GradesK - 12We opened with K - 9 in our first year, K - 10 in our second year, K - 11 in our third year, and expanded the high school to K - 12 by the 2014 - 2015 school year.
CurriculumClassical and Core KnowledgeLoveland Classical Schools is a classical school, which we define by focusing on three things: Great Books, the trivium, and character education. In other words: great works, great teaching, and great people.

Loveland Classical Schools employs the nationally recognized Core Knowledge sequence from kindergarten through 8th grade.
TuitionNoLCS is a public charter school; therefore, we do not charge tuition. However, students attending our full-day kindergarten program do pay tuition.
Unique Teaching StructureDepartmentalizationEach teacher teaches his/her specialty and passion! We build the students’ education by having experts teach them. Students in 1st through 5th grades stay in one classroom while the teachers travel to the students. Each class is 45 minutes long, ensuring each subject ample time through the year. Departmentalization has many benefits.
LanguagesYesAll LCS students are offered at least one language at each grade level.
Spanish: K - 3 grades (required)
Latin: 4 - 8 grades (required)

Math ProgramSingapore MathLoveland Classical Schools utilizes the successful Singapore math program. Singapore has consistently performed well in the TIMSS international math assessment. Students in Singapore have ranked number one in 4th and 8th grades in three out of the last four times the exam has been administered.
ReadingRiggsThe Riggs literacy program is a phonics-based program that began 120 years ago by Dr. Samuel T. Orton. The program teaches students the foundational sounds made by letters and groups of letters.
Character EducationYesA cornerstone of our instruction is developing personal character in our students with the purpose of making morally conscientious citizens.
Uniforms/Dress CodeYesOur dress code policy serves to uphold the vision and mission of the school, minimize distraction, and encourage learning by cultivating an atmosphere of discipline, equality, and respect. Parents may purchase clothing that meets our dress code standards from a variety of local and online retailers.
Academic ElectivesYesLCS offers many academic electives, including but not limited to art, choir, band, orchestra, writing composition, and more.
AthleticsYesLCS currently offers the following sports:
students in grades 1-4: boys and girls wrestling, girls cheer squad
students in grades 5-8: girls volleyball, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls track and field, boys and girls wrestling, girls cheer squad
students in grades 9-12: girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls wrestling
Hot Lunch ProgramYesLCS partners with the Thompson School District Nutrition Services to offer our students nutritious lunch options and the Free and Reduce Lunch Program. More information is available on our website.
Extra-curricular ActivitiesYesLCS has a growing number of extra-curricular clubs and activities, which include but are not limited to academic Geocaching Club, Student Government, Robotics Club, Math Club, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, and Battle of the Books just to name a few.
PARCC TestingYesLCS administers all state-mandated testing, which includes PARCC testing.
Physical EducationYesHealth and physical education is provided to students in grades K - 8 and is required for one year for 9 - 12th grades.
VolunteerismYesLCS thrives with the help of its dedicated volunteers. You can get involved in two ways: View individual volunteer needs as posted by teachers and staff or join a team.
After School ProgramYesThe 1st Choice After School Kare and Academic Tutoring program is available from 2:45 - 6:00 p.m. for ages 5-16.
AccreditationYesLCS is accredited through the Thompson School District.
